The Durham Sun, Thursday September 2nd, 1954

There are three versions of each page shown. A different version may be better focused or clearer in a given area. If you can't quite see what you're after, try looking at one of the other versions. If you have an area or a closeup you would particularly like, please email me with detailed specifics (mruwave@nc.rr.com). These are pictures taken with a 10 megapixel camera and the page under a piece of plate glass. I'm open to someone with a flat-bed scanner large enough to scan an entire page (18 3/4 X 23).

Thanks to Bobby Misenheimer for bringing me this section of the Sun. Bobby's dad was one of the engineers who helped put WTVD on the air. Bob (Robert G. Misenheimer) saved this section in 1954 and Bobby found it when he was cleaning out his Dad's house. Bob died last November at age 102. I knew Bob, and he was quite a unique individual. Bobby, his brother Billy and I were high school buddies.

Thanks to my son (James R. Weldon, III) for the photography and patience to work with me on this. I guess I'm now the third leg of his tripod.
