Miriam Lewis Bly

 

LEXINGTON, S.C. - A memorial service for Miriam Lewis Bly was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2009 at Lexington Presbyterian Church. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009 in Maplewood Cemetery, Durham. Immediately following, there will be a visitation/reception with the family at St. Luke's Episcopal Church at 1737 Hillandale Road in Durham. Mrs. Bly was born August 20, 1922 and passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2009. She was the daughter of the late Edwin N. and Mary Hall Lewis. Mrs. Bly was the wife of the late James R. Bly, coach at Duke University. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Durham, which she loved and where she served the Lord for many years. She was a secretary at WTVD Channel 11 in Durham for 23 years. She was a generous, giving and supportive wife, mother and 'Mimi'.

Mrs. Bly is survived by her daughters, Mary Higgins and husband, Skip, Barbara Bindewald and husband, Dave, and Ann Palmer and husband, Bobby; grandchildren, Shelley Clayton, Matt Clayton, Dave Bindewald and wife, Erin, Erin Bindewald, Eric Palmer, Sarah Palmer and Philip Palmer; great-grandchildren, Lexie Clayton, Kody Clayton and Ella and Lucy Bindewald; sister, Jane Long Betz; and brother, Edwin N. Lewis Jr.
